As far as Scarface's albums are concerned, it's hipper to like The Diary because it's so impressively dark, but there's a bunch of fans who stand by The Fix as Scarface's best

Comparing them would be strange- they were released 8 years apart and rap is one of those great genres that moves and changes so quickly that a two year's difference is crucial (Late Registration ----> Graduation, for example), and 8 years is almost an entirely new artist despite being the same guy

Features excellent production from guys like Kanye West keeping things lively and clear and colourful, good guest stars, and Scarface not disappointing lyrically or vocally (it's that mix of baritone and vivid imagery we love him for), The Fix is one of the great 2000s rap albums for staying distinctly Scarface (heavy southern rap) while moving into a more modern sound

Hailed as a hip hop classic and 2Pac's definitive statement on its release, All Eyez On Me has unfortunately seen reactionary criticism in recent years. Critics would have you believe that because the singles make up the first disc, that leaves an hour of filler (book 2)

Fresh out of prison, All Eyez On Me needed to be two discs long 'cause that's how much effort 2Pac wanted to cram into it. You can feel the passion in every track (even the mediocre ones like What'z Ya Phone No.) and the huge celebration of life and freedom that the album embodies is so ridiculously moving and life affirming that I don't know how you can call it anything other than great

Then there's the fact that the second disc is far from bad. True, it's not as solid as disc 1 (which is ridiculously solid), but how could songs as good as Can't C MeRather Be Ya NiggaAll Eyez on Me and Heaven Ain't Hard 2 Find ever be considered filler?

Young Zee - Musical Meltdown

Young Zee from The Outsidaz' bootleg ('cause it was shelved) semi-classic to most of those who hear it, Musical Meltdown

Snoop Dogg - Doggystyle

An album so good that it's arguably the only thing keeping people interested in Snoop even though it was released 19 years ago- although I'd argue that his persona appeals beyond his g-funk and that COME ON, PAID THA COST TO BE DA BOSS WAS SOME EXCELLENT LAID BACK 000S WEST COAST SHIT

Some might say it betters The Chronic in terms of GODLY production, and I like it more even though it's less experimental, others argue that the nihilistic lyrical content was culturally important citing who am I, what's my name? as a great example of African American existential anxiety where the answer is a dog, subservient but in the position to be subversive as an all-inclusive partier where radicals (Cube) held onto an elitist you're all wrong position, alienating him from those he thought he was liberating, others (it's an old album) look at the guy behind the persona (as you have to do with rappers) and cite the nasty, nihilistic g-funk as dealing more with personal anxiety, frustration, and depression than anything gangsta oriented, makingDoggystyle the Nevermind of rap (or something)- and others like it because Snoop graces the mic with Slick Rick's storytelling and laid-back fluidity but updates the shit out of it (it's the 90s after all) and it's the first and last time he'd ever be greeted with such perfect beats. Detractors note the ignorant nihilism and abhorrent sexism as negatives, but combining a few of thearguments listed earlier we can support it if we need to but I don't really feel the need. It's too good.
